Hopley Alta. court date postponed to December

An Alberta court date for accused child abductor Randall Hopley has been put off until Dec. 6.

Hopley is currently facing a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether he can stand trial for the bizarre kidnapping of three-year-old Kienan Hebert.

Hopley also faces charges for stealing goods and breaking into a cabin in the Crowsnest Lake, Alta., area in 2010. He was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday on these matters, but that date was moved to December.

Earlier this month, Hopley was named as a suspect in the disappearance of Hebert, who was snatched from his home in Sparwood, B.C. The boy was returned unharmed four days later.

Hopley has been charged with kidnapping and abduction of a minor under 14 years old.

He is expected to appear in a Cranbrook, B.C., courtroom on Nov. 9 on those charges.
