Talks resuming between Air Canada, flight attendants

As talks were resuming Tuesday to avert a midnight strike by 6,800 Air Canada flight attendants, labour rallies were expected in several cities around the country.

Labour Minister Lisa Raitt has said the federal government will bring in back-to-work legislation if the union delivers on its promise to strike at 12:01 a.m. ET on Wednesday.

Talks between the two sides ended without a deal Monday night in Montreal, the Canadian Union of Public Employees said in a news release.

However, Air Canada confirmed talks were to pick up again on Tuesday.

The workers have been without a contract since March 31.
