Web-based service to match buyers and sellers of BC wood products launched

The Bridges Project is an initiative developed by the BC Community Forest Association (BCCFA) and supported by a consortium of community partners.

In 2009, the BCCFA identified the need for small forest tenure owners to connect local log sales with local value-added manufacturers, saw millers and lumber re-manufacturers.

In January 2011, the Working Roundtable on Forestry recommended: “We should develop an internet-based wood market.”

On Sept. 28, The Bridges Project launched WoodSourceBC.com. This interactive website is designed to connect buyers and sellers of BC forest products.

WoodSourceBC.com will help BCCFA members, woodlot licensees, First Nations tenures, private forest land owners and others reach potential buyers of their logs and other forest products.

It will also provide a convenient and efficient “one-window” tool for value-added manufacturers and other buyers to identify current sources of logs and forest products in BC.
