A bizarre incident Saturday afternoon brought police to the site of a home invasion, according to Trail RCMP NOC i/c Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“On Saturday, July 23, at 12:47 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance at a residence in the 2000 block of Daniel Street in Trail,” Wicentowich said..

“Officers discovered the residence was insecure, with a smashed front window, serious damage done to a bedroom door, and located dried blood throughout the scene,” he said. “An officer located and spoke to the occupant/victim, a 46-year-old Trail man, who reported that a 49-year-old Trail man had used a chainsaw to slash his way into the residence before having a physical confrontation with the victim.”

The incident ended when the intruder left the residence without further incident. Trail RCMP officers located and arrested the 49-year-old Trail man for the incident.

“The victim and suspect were know to each other and the public was not believed to be in danger at anytime,” Wicentowich said, adding, “Trail RCMP will recommend that Crown Counsel consider a number of criminal charges against the 49-year-old Trail man.

Minor injuries and blood were believed to be from the suspect as he entered the residence.”
