On March 20, at approximately 2 a.m., a Castlegar resident was awakened from his sleep after hearing noises inside his residence. The home owner got out of bed to investigate and encountered an unknown male suspect inside his house. The home owner verbally confronted the suspect who immediately fled from the home.

Castlegar RCMP immediately attended and located a man matching the suspect’s description, hiding in bushes nearby. The suspect attempted to further flee when confronted by police. After a brief chase and physical confrontation, the suspect was apprehended and transported to the Castlegar RCMP Detachment.

49-year-old Chad Carr of Castlegar has been formally charged by the BC Prosecution Service with forcible entry. He was remanded into custody and is next scheduled to appear in Kelowna Law Courts on April 2, 2020.
