Fire destroys Rossland home

A suspicious trailer fire in the 800 block of Monte Vista Drive in Rossland brought firefighters from Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, and RCMP officers, out at 5:55 in the morning on September 5, 2020. The fire completely destroyed the home and damaged vehicles parked on the property, and spread to the neighbouring trailer, which sustained significant damage.
The residents of the destroyed trailer were able to escape before the flames fully engulfed it, and no one was home at the neighbouring trailer damaged by the fire.
The RCMP investigated the cause of the fire, and report that they believe it was human-caused but not intentionally; they think that smoking materials may have led to the conflagration, and no charges are anticipated at this time.
