Multiple charges have been laid against a 25-year-old Trail man, following the investigation into several criminal incidents which include the assault of an elderly man.

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 5:03 a.m., the Trail RCMP received a report of a man down in the middle of Bay Avenue near Hwy 3B in downtown Trail. Police arrived on scene to find an unconscious 78-year-old male, laying in the road, bleeding from the head. The male was transported to hospital by EHS, in serious condition.

Trail RCMP eventually located and arrested 25-year-old Joel Aaron Thomas Anderson of Trail on Aug. 22 for numerous offences including Arson, Assault, Causing Bodily Harm, Uttering Threats and Break and Enter. “The offences all happened within a week,” Reid said, adding the original offences happened within 24 hours.

Anderson was known to police prior to these events.

“There are potentially more charges coming – he’s a person of interest in other investigations, and we expect to see more charges in the future.”

A total of 12 charges have been laid to date and Anderson he has been remanded in custody for court in Nelson on Sept 25, 2017.
