A Ymir man will be facing charges after police found drugs in his home, according to Salmo top cop Cpl. Darryl Orr.

On Jan. 8, at roughly 4 p.m., Salmo RCMP responded to a residence in Ymir during a routine call for service.

“While at the residence RCMP members discovered illegal drugs in plain view,” Orr said. “The male home owner was arrested at scene and a search warrant for the residence was sought and approved. The search of the residence resulted in the seizure of large quantities of Psilocybin (magic mushrooms), cannabis, cannabis oil, and cannabis pills. Canadian cash was also seized.

“Charges of trafficking and production of Controlled Substances will be recommended against the male suspect.”

He said the Salmo RCMP encourages the public to report any suspected illegal drug activity to the Salmo RCMP or anonymously at Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
