The Rossland Chamber of Commerce would like to invite everyone to the annual Canada Day Celebration in Rossland on Thursday, July 1, 2010. The day begins with a hike up Mount Roberts.  Hikers are to meet on the Rossland library lawn at 9:00 AM where directions and carpooling to the trailhead will take place. Some shuttles will be provided by Adrenaline Adventures. Climb to Mt Roberts and sing Oh Canada while enjoying the raising of our flag.

A community photo will be taken and hikers can then leisurely make their way down and back into town for burgers, band, cake and a special ribbon ceremony at The new Center Star trail head from Rossland’s Mayor Greg Granstrom.

Meanwhile, back in town:

  • The festivities will start in Pioneer Park on Spokane Street at 2:00 p.m. with music from Randy & Dave until 4:00
  • The cake cutting will commence at 2:30 p.m. in Pioneer Park with a special new Rossland Trails ribbon cutting ceremony by Mayor Greg Granstrom at 2:45 (there will be cupcakes for the kids from Sweet Dreams Cakery so be sure to bring the family)
  • The Eagles Ladies Auxiliary will be cooking up burgers on Columbia Street from 1:00-5:00
  • This years events include the kick off Rossland Mountain Market at Washington & Columbia Street starting at 3:00pm and ending at 7:00pm at The Queen Street market area.
  • Tails Pets will be celebrating Canada Day with a 1st Annual Clean Up Your Dog at their new dog wash.
  • Festivities wind down at approximately 4:00 p.m., leaving participants plenty of time to get to Trail to catch the fireworks display from the Gyro Park boat launch.  Fireworks are set to begin at dusk.

Pick up your flags, pins and window posters at The Rossland Chamber of Commerce starting Friday June 18th to ensure you are ready to celebrate Canada style. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Canada’s Birthday! Come and join in on the fun in Rossland.
