Bombers overcome pesky Royals to claim hoop victory at the Hangar

The L.V. Rogers Bombers used a balanced scoring attack to dump a pesky Rossland Royals squad 56-44 in Kootenay High School Girl’s Basketball action Tuesday at the Hangar.
The win allowed the Bombers to sweep the Royals in the two-game season series.
The Bombers took control of the game late in the first quarter, out scoring Rossland 9-2 to grab a 16-9 lead at the break.
The Royals cut the margin to 20-16 to start the second quarter but LVR answered the run with one of their own to lead 29-21 at recess.
The Bombers increase the margin to 41-24 before coasting to the win.
Sarah Fuhr led the Bombers with 15 points while Rachel Moulson, with a solid game at both ends of the court, adding 14.
The two K’s, Kyndle Doolan and Kiandra McLaren scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Heather Thomas scored 16 points to lead the Royals. Brenna MacKay and Jessica Brittan added seven and eight points, respectively.
LVR returns to action for Senior’s Night Thursday when the squad hosts rival Grand Forks Wolves in a key Kootenay League matchup.
The winner will assume the second seed in the up coming Kootenay Zone Finals February 25-26 in the Boundary City.
