Castlegar faces Osoyoos in Game one of the KIJHL Final Saturday
By The Nelson Daily Sports
The Castlegar Rebels face an uphill battle when the Kootenay Conference Champs meet the best from the Okanagan in the Osoyoos Coyotes in game one of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Final Saturday in the South Okanagan City.
But the Rebels are ready for any challenge.
Castlegar just disposed of the second-best team in the KIJHL, in the Fernie Ghostriders. So why not do the same to the regular season champs?
The teams begin the best-of-seven final Saturday in Osoyoos. Game two is Sunday in the Desert City.
The series then shifts to the Castlegar Complex for games three and four, Tuesday and Wednesday.
If necessary, game five returns to Osoyoos Thursday, March 24. Game six is back in Castlegar Friday, March 26 with a seventh game, if needed, set for Osoyoos Monday, March 28.
The Coyotes enter the series as the early favourite, having lost six regular season games all season — four coming in overtime.
The Dogs also rallied from a one-game deficit to dispose of the defending KIJHL champs from Revelstoke in six games.
