A Public Works complaint turned into a marijuana grow operation bust Sunday in the hospital area of the city.

Using some information from the complaint, police obtained a search warrant to enter the residence in the neighbourhood around Kootenay Lake Hospital where they discovered 400 plants amidst a sizable marijuana grow operation. The equipment was seized.

The people in the house — a 38-yer-old man and 31-year-old man — were both arrested for production of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

Both men were released with a first appearance set in Nelson Courthouse for June 7.

Two times unlucky

A man who was told to go home after he was involved in an altercation previously became ensnarled with police Wednesday night as he tried to get back into the bar he was ejected from.

An intoxicated 20-year-old man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and proceeded to resist efforts to take him into custody.

He was transported to Nelson Police Department cells where he was held until sober.

He was released on a charge of willfully arresting a peace officer and fined under the Liquor Licencing Control Act.

• In the four-day span ending Wednesday night, NPD officers answered 44 calls for service.
