West Kootenay Wildcats blast the boys, take a pair of games over Nelson house teams
The West Kootenay Bantam Wildcats proved the girls can play with the boys.
The Cats flexed some offensive power en route to skating away with a pair of convincing weekend victories over the Nelson
Bantam House squads in minor hockey action in the Heritage City.
West Kootenay blasted Bantam House # 1 6-1 before riding the shutout netminder of Kaslo’s Catalina Hartland for a 4-0 win over Bantam House #2 Sunday at the Nelson Civic Centre.
Nelson’s Emma Hare scored twice to back the stellar netminder of Hartland.
Jena Wheeldon and Jesse Cooper, both of Nelson, also scored for the victors.
Saturday, Paige Gattafoni of Trail scored three times as the Cats blasted Nelson Bantam House #1.
Hare, Dakota Mular (Trail) and Julie Sidoni (Trail) also scored for West Kootenay.
Brendan Martel scored the lone goal for Nelson Bantam #1.
The two wins improve the Cats season to 4-2-1.
The West Kootenay Bantam Wildcats is an all-star team with players from Rossland, Trail, Castlegar, Nelson and Kaslo.
The team represented the zone at the 2011 B.C. Bantam Female Championships in Kelowna.
