Smoke Eaters swap skates for sneakers in Terry Fox Run
You may only know them from the hockey rink, but there’s more to the Smoke Eaters than on-ice flair, as residents discovered at the Trail Terry Fox Run Sunday.
Smokies players joined close to 200 local residents in running, walking and cycling the five-kilometre circuit at Gyro Park. Local organizers held a by-donation pancake breakfast, and the team also took part in a game of tug-of-war against a throng of local kids.
The 32nd annual Trail Terry Fox Run was one of thousands of events held this year across Canada in support of cancer research. The 2011 Trail Terry Fox Run raised $32,000 in funds.
