Canadian actress, model, producer, author, activist, and known for her television series roles in Home Improvement, Baywatch, and V.I.P. Pamela Anderson is going to be there.

So will Mark Ruffalo, Daryl Hannah of Roxanne fame, and Michael Moore.

Joining the start-studded list of dignitaries at the Defend Our Coast mass sit-in on Monday in Victoria are Tom Nixon and Keith Wiley from last summer’s Kootenay to Kitimat Caravan to Stop the Enbridge Pipeline.

The mass sit-in is to bring awareness and oppose tar sands pipelines and tankers on Canada’s west coast.

More than 3,500 people have signed an online pledge to take action in the Defend Our Coast sit-in on the front lawn of the B.C. legislature.

Many of those people attending have gone on record as considering arrest to send message to the provincial and federal governments there should be “no” tar sands pipelines to the west coast and no tankers on the waters.

The Defend Our Coast protest hopes to mirror the success of protests against tar sands expansion and pipelines in the U.S. and Canada last fall.

The August 2011 sit-ins in Washington, D.C. helped delay approval of the Keystone XL pipeline while the September 26, 2011 sit-in in Ottawa helped put Canadian tar sands pipeline proposals in the national spotlight.

Wiley and Nixon were part of the Kootenay to Kitimat Caravan to Stop the Enbridge Pipeline that ventured from Nelson to the B.C. coastline.

The Caravan held public events in Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Fort St. James, Smithers, Terrace and Kitimat, and may have events in other centers on the route. Along the way Caravaners met local mayors, politicians and First Nations leaders.

Both Wiley and Nixon will jettison back to Nelson to be part of Wednesday’s Defend Our Coast rally Noon at Nelson City Hall.

There will be speakers, musicians as well as a report from Victoria.
