UPDATED: German man killed in avalanche near Revelstoke identified

The 45-year-old man that died after being buried by an avalanche near Revelstoke this week has been identified as Jannik Inselkammer of Munich, Germany.

Inselkammer was a Munich-area businessman who worked in the beer brewing industry.

He was born into a brewing family and had several ownership stakes and managing director positions with various breweries over the years.

A 45-year-old man from Germany has died after being buried by an avalanche near Revelstoke.

RCMP said the avalanche happened north of the community of Revelstoke Monday morning.

The man was heli-skiing when he was buried in approximately three metres of snow in the backcountry.

The man was quickly dug out by bystanders and was treated at the scene, but died from his injuries.

The investigation has now been turned over to the BC Coroners office.
