The Trail Relay for Life is a go for tomorrow (Saturday), but organizers say they’d love a few more volunteers tonight and tomorrow help the day go smoothly.

We are looking for Volunteers to join Relay For Life in Trail and be a part of the biggest cancer fundraising event in Canada,” said volunteer event development chair Belinda Pitt. “We are currently looking for volunteers to help with set up on Friday, during the event on Saturday (even pack down at 10 p.m.), and clean up on Sunday morning. It will be an enriching experience that celebrates survivors, honours loved ones lost and fights back against cancer by generating millions of dollars for cancer research, prevention and support programs.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday at Gyro Park, and Pitt says there will be tons of fun kids’ activities, including a bouncy castle, crafts, carnival games, face painting and tie dying.

For gorwn-ups, there are silent auctions, raffles, and the luminaries to honour people who have battled cancer.

As many as 19 teams are ready to relay (each team boasting between 2 and 12 members), and the public is welcome to run, walk, crawl or wheel their way into all the fun as well (athleticism isn’t a prerequisite).

Beyond all the fun and camaraderie, Pitt nails down the best reason to attend.

“I just wanted to do something that could really help in the community,” she said.
