Revelstoke RCMP seeking public assistance to identify deceased male
Revelstoke RCMP is seeking public assistance in establishing the identity of a deceased adult male, whose body was discovered by sight-seers on Friday August 26, in a forested area along Highway 1.
RCMP Cpl. Thomas Blakney said in a media release on (Friday) August 26, shortly after 4 p.m., police received a report from a group of sight-seers, of the discovery of the body of an adult male at a makeshift campsite.
“The Revelstoke RCMP attended the location where John DOE was located approximately four kilometers East of Revelstoke BC, in a forested area, just off of the Trans-Canada Highway,” Blakney said.
“The man was camping in the area when he passed away.”
“His unfortunate death is not suspicious,” he added.
“It is believed that the man was transient, who travelled by way of bicycle during the day and camped at night.”
Blakney said it’s estimated that the man passed away some time in late July.
He is described as:
- slim build
- height approx 5’4″ 165 cm
- blond hair
- red ball cap
- bifocal glasses
- black T-Shirt with a white silk-screened logo of Roughnecks
- lumberjack style long sleeved shirt
- tan coloured hiking shoes
- white socks pulled up to his shins
- blue jeans rolled-up to appear as shorts
“The Revelstoke RCMP is canvassing the community of Revelstoke and other communities along the Trans Canada Highway East and into the Interior, in hopes of identifying him,” Blakney said.
“This in turn will permit us to make efforts to notify his family of his death.”
If anyone has information with respect to the possible identity of this male, they are asked to please contact Corporal Thomas Blakney of the Revelstoke Detachment at 250-837-5255.
