Suspicious early-morning fires destroy two units in Trail four-plex
The early morning hours of May 20 saw fire crews respond to two apparently suspicious fires in a four-plex in Trail.
Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue Cpt. Greg Ferraby said the call came in at 2:39 a.m., and crews arrived on scene at 2:43 a.m.
“The first arriving engine with three firefighters (was) met with multiple fires (at 1406 4 Ave.),” Ferraby said. “The duty crew (was) able to contain the fire until more crews arrived.”
Ultimately, four Warfield firefighters and nine Trail firefighters attended the blaze, which was deemed under control by 3:14 a.m.
Ferraby said there were two different fires at the same time, each in a different unit of the four-plex.
“It’s in the hands of the RCMP now, and they’ll be investigating,” he said.
No occupants were home in the units at the time, and no firefighters, civilians or pets were injured in the fires.
There is significant damage to the two impacted suites.
