Council Proclaims March 12 as “Trail Smoke Eaters World Championship Teams Day”

Trail City Council has proclaimed March 12th of each year as “Trail Smoke Eaters World Championship Teams Day” in the City of Trail.
On March 12, 1961, the Trail Smoke Eaters defied all odds to bring home the prestigious title of World Champions for the second time, following in the footsteps of their hockey idols, the 1939 Trail Smoke Eaters.
Visit the Trail Museum & Archives at the Trail Riverfront Centre to view the temporary window display and the permanent exhibits that tell the stories of the historic Trail Smoke Eaters, including unique footage and a comprehensive collection of Trail Smoke Eater memorabilia. The generosity of the players and their families of both teams ensure this history is preserved for generations of Smoke Eater fans to come!
