On Friday, Dec 31, 2021, at 3:39 a.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP responded to a single motor vehicle incident in the 9000 block of Hwy 22A in Trail. The vehicle containing two 18-year-old Trail women and an 18-year-old Fruitvale woman struck a power pole and rolled over once.

The power pole was sheared off during the incident. BC Ambulance attended and transported all three women to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for a medical assessment and treatment for minor injuries. Driver inexperience and winter road conditions may have been factors in the incident.

“Please slow down and drive in accordance with winter conditions,” said Trail RCMP NCOIC Sgt. Mike Wicentowich. “Good winter tires are essential for safe travel. Consider staying home during winter storms unless travel is essential.”

Trail RCMP continues to investigate.
