Outdoor movie screening of The Princess Bride this Friday in Warfield

The Trail & District Arts Council and The Royal Theatre have joined together to imagine your new, favourite family experience, Silver Screen Outdoor Movies at Haley Park in Warfield. Running at dusk on May 27 and July 16 this mini hit of films will bring you heartwarming fun.
Our first movie, “The Princess Bride”, is a classic fairy tale comedy, with swordplay, giants, an evil prince, a beautiful princess, and yes, some kissing.
A grandfather reads the book “The Princess Bride” to his grandson who is at home sick, despite the fact that the grandson is sure he won’t like the story, as it’s a romance and he prefers something with lots of action and “no kissing”. Cut to the story where Buttercup is being forced to marry Prince Humperdinck when she still mourns the death of her one true love, Westley, who was killed at sea by the Dread Pirate Roberts. But before she can be married, Buttercup is kidnapped by a band of bandits. But hot on their heels is the infamous Dread Pirate Roberts, followed by the Prince and his men.
What will happen to Buttercup? Will the Prince get her back by force or ransom? Why is the Dread Pirate Roberts chasing them? And what will the grandson think of the story in the end?

The other screening in this series is “The Lego Movie” on July 16. Irreverent family fun, this animated movie sees well-known actors channeling their inner Lego personas from superheroes to average Joe’s, or Emmetts.
To make these fun events accessible to everyone, films are by suggested donation of $5 per person. Tickets only available at the door. Cash or card payment available.
Remember, doors open at 7:15 pm. Get there early to buy your popcorn and get a good spot. And, don’t forget to bring your chairs and blankets to cozy up under the stars.
