Fuel fools foiled by Long Arm of the Law
A B&E and theft Friday have police shaking their heads, according to Trail RCMP top cop Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
“On Thursday, July 14, at 12:54 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP received a report of a break, enter, and theft that occurred sometime overnight at a business in the 7000 block of Hwy 3B in Trail,” Wicentowich said.
“Surveillance cameras captured the three occupants in a dark blue 2005 Ford F150 truck ram through a locked gate into a fenced yard. The thieves used the opportunity to fill up the truck with diesel fuel stored on the property before fleeing.
“The catch is that the truck ran on gasoline. And the truck allegedly belonged to one of the three involved in the too strange-to-explain crime. The truck was believed to have quickly broken down after the suspects left the scene of the crime as it was located by police on Hwy 22 only a short distance from Trail.”
Trail RCMP continues to investigate the incident.
“You can’t explain this one,” Wicentowich said. “I hope the three suspects will tell us about how their plan was supposed to work.
