Mayoral Candidate (Warfield) Frank Marino - in his own words
My name is Frank Marino and I’m running for Mayor of Warfield. I was born and raised in Trail, moved away several times, and always came back. My wife Betty Anne and I have lived in Warfield for 23 years and raised our three children in the community. Betty Anne’s family has lived in Warfield for over 100 years. Warfiled is a great family friendly-community, and I want to help keep it so. I enjoy remaining active through hockey, golf, CrossFit, walking our dog, and anything that brings me outdoors.
During my 30+ year professional career I served in executive level leadership positions in Interior Health, Golden Life Management, and Columbia Power. This included the Administrator for KBRH, Home Care, and Residential Care in Trail and Castlegar. I also held the position of the Director of Human Resources at Interior Health and Columbia Power. My approach then, as now, is to lead through collaboration empowering teams and instilling confidence as they manage complex issues.
My formal education includes a Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Education, both at UBC, and a certification as a Registered EEG Technologist from BCIT. Currently I provide HR consulting services with a focus on team building, strategic planning, Board development, and harassment investigations to both Public Sector organizations and small businesses.
Community volunteering is an important value I have lived by all my adult life. I have served on many boards, most recently as Chair of Community Futures Greater Trail. During the 2021/22 fiscal year the organization issued the largest number of business loans to new start ups and existing businesses than any other Community Futures in BC. Helping to start and grow local businesses is something I am very proud of. In addition, I volunteer on several committees of the Lower Columbia Community Development Team: Health & Hospital Committee Chair, Executive Committee, and the
Community Health Centre team.
Over the past 3 years, under the Health and Hospital Committee, I have been part of a working group that is creating a Community Health Center Network. The aim of the CHC is to provide an alternative team-based care approach to primary health care services in our communities. This has been in response to the growing need to secure new physicians and other practitioners for our residents, something that will directly benefit us all.
I am running for Mayor because I want to ensure that Warfield continues to thrive as a family-friendly community. I am heartened to see so many young families living in Warfield, and wish to be part of the Village’s continued prosperity
Warfield is in the midst of several major capital projects, including water supply and distribution, and sewer upgrades. We also need to maintain and upgrade our aging infrastructure. My goal for the next 4 years is to solve the water supply issue and develop a long-term infrastructure plan for the Village. I believe I have the leadership
experience to guide us through these next four years.
