Shotgun outside Fruitvale apartment complex leads to seizure of multiple weapons
On Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:27 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a report of guitar case containing a shotgun located outside of an apartment building on Brookside Road, in Fruitvale, according to RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
“An officer attended the location and seized the shotgun,” Wicentowich said. “The officer arrested the alleged owner, a 27-year-old Fruitvale man, who had left the shotgun outside of an apartment building accidently while he went to watch a local hockey game. The officer later released him on several conditions. As part of his release conditions, the man turned over two additional rifles, two crossbows, and ammunition to the investigating officer.
“Trail RCMP will forward a report to Crown Counsel recommending criminal charges against the 27-year-old Fruitvale man.”
