Starting today, BC residents have the opportunity for a rebate when they purchase a new electric bike – and because the rebate amount is based on income, the program will make e-bikes a clean transportation choice that is more affordable and accessible for everyone.

There are four easy steps associated with accessing the Income Qualified E-Bike Rebate Program:

1.     Locating an electronic copy of your notice of assessment and completing the online application form.
2.     Awaiting your approval email, in about 2-3 business days.
3.     Purchasing your e-bike (minimum purchase price of $2,000 before taxes) through a participating e-bike retailer.
4.     Have electronic copies of your complete claim documentation ready to complete your claim.

Those with a net income of $38,950 or less are eligible for a $1,400 rebate; An income between $38,950 and $51,130 makes one eligible for a $1,000 rebate; And those with an income in excess of $51,131 can claim a $350 rebate.

“We know that a key aspect of creating a cleaner, greener future for British Columbia is creating alternative active transportation options for individuals and families,” said SCRAP-IT® CEO, Diane Roberts. “By working closely with the province to create a program that is income based, we are also ensuring that it is as inclusive and accessible as possible, regardless of income.”

Determining if you qualify and applying for the program is easy. Details about the income qualified E-Bike Program can be found here.
