Motorcyclist dies in accident near Winlaw

Nelson RCMP is reporting that a teenager has died as a result of a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon on back road near Winlaw.

RCMP said officers responded on Tuesday, June 25th 2024 at 12:35 p.m., to a report of a head on collision between an SUV and a motorcycle on the Slocan River Road near Winlaw.

Nelson RCMP attended the accident scene with the support of the BC Ambulance Service, Passmore Fire Dept and Winlaw Fire Dept, Ministry of Transportation and Yellowhead Road and Bridge.

Nelson RCMP confirmed the 16-year-old operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics and the collision is still under investigation.

Nelson RCMP requests that any witnesses to contact the police at 250-352-2156 if they have not yet spoken to officers.

“Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of the young Winlaw resident,” Nelson RCMP said.
