The Bailey Theatre in downtown Trail is the premiere place to go for live entertainment in the South Kootenays. To celebrate the launch of the theatre’s new season, the Trail & District Arts Council is hosting a VIP reception on Oct. 1 from 5-7 p.m. for its Patron of the Arts members and supporters of the venue.

The reception will fill the building with liveliness as people enjoy live music with appetizer and drink pairings in The Bailey Lounge, The Griff and the VISAC Gallery. Pouring their wares will be Trail Beer Refinery, Columbia Gardens Vineyard and the Rossland Beer Company with food tastings from local experts. Entertaining the attendees in each space will be reggae/roots with Tim Hurley & The Vultures, popular music with a twist with Freya, and Classical & Broadway hits with pianist Carolyn Cameron.

The event will be followed by a concert with internationally renowned jazz piano virtuoso, producer and singer-songwriter Michael Kaeshammer. A spellbinding artist, Kaeshammer’s passion for exceptional music is abundantly clear, with flavours of jazz, boogie-woogie and blues combined in his performances, which are intimate and inviting affairs, whether in a small club or a large theatre.

Michael Kaeshammer’s show at 7:30 pm features his quartet performing a range of old favourites and Kaeshammer’s original work, including songs from his latest album, “Something New”. An innovative artist, his recording career now spans 22 years and 12 albums. He has won two Juno Awards and multiple Western Canadian Music Awards including Musician of the Year and Entertainer of the Year.

If you are not a current Patron of the Arts, and want to attend the party, please go online and buy your membership or call or drop into the Box Office. Your Patron of the Arts membership includes benefits such as pre-access sales and offers to select performances and an invitation to the season launch party, all while showing your support for the arts, for an annual donation of only $15. Please note tickets for the Michael Kaeshammer show are not included in the membership. Tickets for the performance are $25.

Call 250-368-9669 or drop into the Cedar Avenue Box Office to purchase tickets and your 2019-20 membership.
