Christmas at the Gallery is in full swing at the Kootenay Gallery of Art. Now that December is here, you can shop seven days a week between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The whole building is filled with pottery, sewn crafts, paintings, knitted dolls and much more. There are local books for all ages, including SS Minto by Bruce Rohn. The Gallery hosts one of the largest selections of jewellery in Castlegar, from beaded earrings and necklaces to hand-crafted silver designs. This year the Gallery has silver pendants and bracelets by metis artist Terry Jackson. As always, there is a selection of paintings and photographs by Kootenay artists.

Executive Director Val Field creates a display that feels both homey and magical. She says, “We want you to feel welcome here at the Gallery at any time of year but especially during the Christmas season. We search for holiday-themed goods such as stockings and ornaments to supplement our selection.”

Shopping here supports not just the Gallery but also artisans who live in the region. This helps support the local economy and you will not find items like these anywhere outside the Kootenays.

The Kootenay Gallery of Art is located at 120 Heritage Way, across from the airport, down the road from The Apple Guy and the Doukhobor Discovery Centre. Gallery members receive a 10-per-cent discount when they purchase items from the Gift Shop. Come check out Christmas at the Gallery.
