A woman is dead and her four children hospitalized after a head-on crash Saturday, according to a BC Highway Patrol press release.

“On Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 at approximately 5:05 p.m., Trail RCMP and Emergency Services attended a two-vehicle head-on collision on Hwy 22 near Hanna Drive that resulted in a fatality,” the release said.

“Upon arrival it was determined that a northbound Ford pickup entered the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a southbound Chevrolet SUV, killing the 34-year-old woman driving the Chevrolet and injuring her four children, aged eight to 14. The children’s injuries are not considered to be life threatening. The driver of the Ford pickup was not injured. Everyone involved is from the local area.

“BC Highway Patrol Nelson and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service have assumed conduct of the investigation.
