Police seek public input after suspicious fire in Trail

Police are seeking witnesses to a suspected arson SAturday, according to RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“On Jan. 9, at 1:23 p.m., Trail and Greater District RCMP and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue responded to a fire that occurred in a shed on a residential property in the 1000 -block of Birch Avenue in Trail,” Wicentowich said.

“Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue managed to extinguish the fire without incident.

“A yet-to-be-identified male suspect was allegedly seen lighting an object on fire inside the shed before fleeing. He was described as 5 ft 8 in tall, of average build, with red hair, a red beard beard and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and dark coloured clothing.

“Trail RCMP continues to investigate the suspicious fire and ask any witnesses to contact the Trail and Greater District Detachment RCMP at 250-364-2566.”
