It has never been easier to start at Selkirk College with an event called Admission on the Spot that aims to help soon-to-be students with the application process.

In three events hosted on March 12 in Trail, March 13 in Castlegar and March 14 in Nelson, those with their sights set on post-secondary will be able to have their application processed on the spot and be conditionally accepted to the program of their choice. There is no admission fee and participants walk away with a limited edition Selkirk College hat.

This is the second time Selkirk College has hosted such an event and Recruitment Specialist Aimie Chernoff is excited for the opportunity to make the admissions process seamless.

“We hosted Admission on the Spot events this past fall and were very pleased with the number of prospective students we connected with,” Chernoff says. “We are enthusiastic about again offering students in our communities a chance to lock down their future plans with us. We are also having a lot of fun handing out our free hats. They look fantastic and to me, they symbolize an exciting future secured by the students that walk off wearing them with a smile.”

People who want to apply will need to bring their high school or post-secondary transcripts along with their current Grade 12 course registration form if applicable.

Not all programs are available for Admission on the Spot due to their competitive nature including Nursing, Geographic Information Systems, Rural Pre-Medicine and those requiring a portfolio. Students can apply to these programs at these events and those who meet requirements may receive an acknowledgement letter.

At each event, find out about financial aid to help pay for schooling as well as prerequisites. Admission on the Spot runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
