Suspect in Montrose stabbing dies of self-inflicted wound

One man is dead and another in hospital after a stabbing at the Tempo Gas Station in Montrose. 

Trail RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich confirmed that the victim, a gas station employee, is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“I can also confirm that the suspect died  of a self-inflicted wound,” he added. “There is no danger to the public.”

He said the deceased was not prevously known to police

The investigation continues.

There are few details available regarding a stabbing at the Montroe gas station at 1:45 p.m. Friday, according to Trail RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“The only thing I can confirm at this time is that there was a stabbing at the Montrose gas station, and that one male, a gas station employee, is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” Wicentowich said. 

He said one male is in police custody, and that more details should be available soon as the investigation evolves.
