All are Welcome to the Trail Community Action Team Speaker Series

In its effort to reduce stigma towards people who are struggling in our community, the Trail Community Action Team has four events planned for February and March 2023 in its Respect & Connect speaker series.

“People dealing with mental health issues, struggling with drug use or simply without a home are confronted with stigma of all sorts. They may be denied housing or a job, and are often dealt with poorly in our community,” says Diana Daghofer, co-chair of the Trail Community Action Team.

“This series will help people understand the basis of addiction and stigma, and learn practical ways to deal with people who may be perceived as disruptive,” notes Kristen Bird, a nurse educator. “The series will help us all create a better and more understanding community.”

The Respect & Connect series starts on Monday, February 6 and includes:

Event #1 and #4 – THE WAR ON DRUGS – WE LOST. HOW WE CAN TURN IT AROUND
A talk by Diana Daghofer looking at the causes of addiction and examples from other countries who have successfully dealt with it
