More delicious chocolate, more savory appetizers and even more fun await you at the second annual Chocolate and Champagne event hosted by the Christina Lake Arts and Artisans Society (CLAAS).

This wildly popular fundraiser will kick your Christmas season off right on Friday, November 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. hosted at the beautiful Christina Living Arts Center.

Professional chocolatiers will be on hand to tempt you with their tasty treats. This year there are over six chocolatiers expected, including Beyond Decadence of Grand Forks, the Cupcake Kid of Grand Forks, From the Hearth Bakery of Christina Lake, Ambrosia Artisian Chocolates of Riondel, Detailed Chocolate Expressions of Castlegar, Mountain Nugget Chocolate Company from Rossland and Doodlebugs from Castlegar.

“It’s fun,” said Bob Dupee, president of CLAAS, of why people should come out. “Chocolate and Champagne is one of two annual fundraisers that help support the work CLAAS does including the development of the next phase in our plans – the studio center and amphitheater.”

Last year nearly 100 people came out to enjoy the evening of decadence and Dupee expects to see at least that many this year.

The popular appy contest is also back for CLAAS members. The members will be challenging themselves to create a savory chocolate tidbit to share. The public is invited to enjoy tasting the treats and voting for the best one. Last year CLAAS members surprised visitors with some clever savory chocolate combinations.

“There was a lot of pretty interesting stuff,” said Dupee. “People were amazed at the combinations and how good it was. And those making the appies had just as much fun coming up with the creations.”

The$20 pre-purchased ticket, or $25 ticket at the door, will get you complementary samples from the regional chocolatiers, a delicious light supper courtesy of Lisa’s Bistro and a glass of champagne or other beverage of your choice. There will be even more chocolate delights available for purchase to eat on the spot or take home to share later.

And while you’re there, get your Christmas shopping started at Arts on 3 Gallery where you will find a fantastic selection of locally crafted creations, stunning paintings of local scenery, handcrafted wooden furniture and unique jewelry.

Tickets are available at the Thistlepot in Grand Forks, Huckleberry Mountain Market, WildWays, or the Centre in Christina Lake. You can also call and order your ticket by phone at 250-447-6161 or 250-447-6561.
