Three young adults involve NPD in purchase of marijuana

Three young adults attempted to use Nelson officers to reclaim stolen money used to purchase marijuana.

The incident happened Saturday (December 1) when NPD responded to a call of a man stealing money.

During the investigation, the three insisted to give money to a male to purchase alcohol on their behalf.  The male departed and did not return.

Officers immediately became skeptical as the three were of legal drinking age.

The trio said they didn’t want to retrieve their identification left at home, and felt the man “looked trustworthy.”

After finding the culprit later that night, police learned the trio had contracted the man to purchase marijuana and not alcohol. The man had money confiscated by the dealer, who was owed money from past transactions.

Police contacted the three young adults warning them about causing police to enter into an investigation by supplying false information.  They were advised to be honest when requesting police assistance.

NPD was not able to locate the money.
