Creston RCMP foil home invasion, arrest two suspects
Creston RCMP got their men, and stopped a home invasion in progress Wednesday.
The home, resulting in the arrest of two men, is believed to be drug related.
The incident started Wednesday (March 20) around 8 pm. local time when RCMP responded a 911 call of a home invasion in progress at a home in the 600 block of 7th Avenue South.
The suspects had fled, prior to police arrival and on attendance investigators noted that the suspects had discharged a firearm at the door in their attempts failed attempts to gain entry.
A perimeter was set up and officers located two adult males in the area one hour later.
The males matched the description given by the victims and were detained with one of the two attempting to flee.
The Cranbrook Police Dog Service had been requested to assist as the dog team was in the Creston area and upon hearing that one suspect had fled when stopped, the dog member was able to quickly pick up a track.
The fleeing suspect was located by the dog team and arrested within minutes. Both subjects were intoxicated at the time of their arrest and taken into custody.
The pair remains in custody on unrelated matters.
The Creston RCMP are continuing their investigation into the home invasion attempt and are seeking public assistance asking that anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious last Wednesday evening in the 7th Avenue South area to contact the Creston RCMP at 250-428-9313.
