Two Grand Forks men facing charges after Castlegar break-and-enter
Two Grand Forks men remain in custody facing charges of breaking and entering and possession of stolen property facing an incident in the early morning hours of June 10, according to RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew.
“Castlegar RCMP officers responded to a residential alarm at just after 4 a.m. in the south end of Castlegar,” she said. “Officers attended the residence and found that entry had been gained and that numerous items seemed to be missing.”
Mathew said the two men, 52-year-old Royburne Osmond, and 32-year-old Theodorus Sactouris, were located just down the street, the homeowner’s belongings in their possession. They have been remanded in custody to appear before a judge on June 13.
“The homeowner was away at the time of the incident and was happy to get all her belongings back,” she said. “Police have no reason to suspect this house or owner was specifically targeted – it was likely a crime of opportunity.
“With the summer months and hot weather upon us, we more often leave windows and doors open . Police urge people to ensure their homes are locked up and secure if they are not going to be home.”
