Free Transit October 1st for Seniors in West Kootenay

Thursday (October 1) is National Seniors Day.

And to help celebrate the occasion BC Transit is offering seniors in the West Kootenay Transit System free rides on buses all day Thursday.

All a senior (persons 65 years-of-age or over) needs to do to ride transit free on October 1 is show their valid I.D. when boarding.

The free fare promotion will benefit seniors who wish to travel to the Kootenay Seniors Fair at the Nelson and District Community Complex (305 Hall Street) Thursday from Noon to 3 p.m. for a an exhibit sponsored by BC Transit.

BC Transit staff will be available to answer questions about accessible transit options such as handyDART and conventional fixed-route service.

“We encourage seniors to visit our exhibit to enter a contest to win one of three seniors monthly bus passes for use in Nelson, which have been donated by the City,” said Mike Russell, Media and Public Relations Advisor for BC Transit.
