Fruitvale man facing charges after thousands of pot plants seized
A Fruitvale man was arrested Friday afternoon after police executed a search warrant, according to Trail Acting Sgt. Devon Reid.
“On July 20, at approximately 2 p.m., the Joint Crime Reduction Unit of Trail and Castlegar, along with the Trail RCMP General Duty members, executed a search warrant at a residence located on the 1600 block of Highway 3B in Fruitvale for theft of hydro electricity,” Reid said in a press release Monday.
“A 40-year old-male from Fruitvale was arrested on scene. Upon search of the residence police recovered a very large and highly sophisticated cannabis growing operation on the property and over 2,000 cannabis plants were seized as well.”
The male was later released to attend court in Rossland on Oct. 4, 2018.
“Police would like to remind the public to report suspicious activity to their local police or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).”
