On Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at 10:32 p.m., a frontline Trail RCMP officer received a report that a 32-year-old Trail man and his vehicle had crashed and rolled over into the ditch in the 4800 block of Old Cascade Highway in Rossland, BC.

“The officer, Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, and BC EHS attended the scene,” said Trail RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich. “The officer located the man who was apparently uninjured. The officer conducted an investigation and discovered that the man was allegedly prohibited from driving a motor vehicle under Section 95 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.’

He said the officer also observed that the man’s ability to operate a motor vehicle may have been impaired by alcohol. A demand was read to the man who provide a sample of his breath which resulted in a fail.

The 32-year-old Trail man was issued a 90-Day Immediate Driving Prohibition under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act. His vehicle was impounded for up to 30 days.

The investigation into the incident continues.

Please stay sober while driving on our busy roads and highways. This incident did not result in tragedy but easily could have. Trail RCMP officers will be out on the roads all summer looking for impaired drivers in order to keep our roads safer,Wicentowich said.
