On April 4, 2025, the Castlegar RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with support from general duty officers and police dog services, executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 1300 block of Columbia Avenue in Castlegar, according to RCMP Cpl. Brett Urano.

He  said investigators seized a quantity of drugs believed to be fentanyl, methamphetamine, MDMA, psilocybin and cocaine along with Canadian Currency and other items consistent with the trafficking of illicit drugs. In addition, police located property that had recently been stolen from a Castlegar business.

“Upon execution of the search warrant, three individuals were taken into police custody without incident and were later released without process,” Urano said.

The Castlegar RCMP since submitted a report to crown and have had charges approved against one individual. On Oct. 15, 2025, Castlegar resident, Ryan Colville, was charged with seven counts of unlawfully possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

“This investigation shows the dedication our officers have here in Castlegar in getting drugs off out street,” said RCMP Sgt. Monty Taylor, Detachment Commander. “We strive our best to keep our city safe and I commend my officers hard work.”

This matter is now before the courts, and no further comments will be made.
