Still Life Painting Workshop with Rebecca Fux
Join us at the Rossland Seniors Centre for an incredible art opportunity!
Hailing from Vernon, BC, Rebecca Fux is an oil painter who has brought her talents to our programming team here at the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre. Join her at the Rossland Seniors Centre on Friday, March 13th for a guided painting workshop! The subject will be a still life composed of some of Rebecca’s favourite objects from our collection. Any and all levels of painting experience are welcome. Rebecca will be there to provide guidance and some technical skills, but her primary goal is to encourage creative expression and fun.
The workshop will begin with drawing exercises to warm up, followed by a brief presentation highlighting how different artists have been approaching still life from the 17th century to today. Last but not least, Rebecca will guide you in painting a still life with acrylic paint on canvas.
When: Friday, March 13th, 2026. 3:45 – 6:15 pm, with a 15-minute break at 5 pm.
Where: Rossland Seniors Centre, 1916 First Ave, Rossland
Cost: $30 for Museum or Seniors Centre members, $35 for non-members
All materials will be provided. Charcoal and paint can be messy — please wear appropriate clothes!
Registration is limited, so pre-registration is required.
This program prioritizes Senior (60+) participation. If you don’t qualify as a Senior, but would like to participate, please get in touch! For more information, check out rosslandmuseum.ca/senior-programs or contact us at info@rosslandmuseum.ca or 250-362-7722.

March Speaker Series with Terry LePage: The Klister Klub
We’re sure you’ve heard about the Klister Klub! A group of skiers from the Trail Ski Club built a cabin in 1939 that would become a hub of ski touring and adventuring for decades. The cabin was built from wood logged on site — all other supplies had to be hiked up to Cabin Flats in the basin between Granite and Grey Mountains. Many of those same skiers went on to be key players in planning and building the area’s first chair lift and establishing the Red Mountain Ski Club in 1947. Prior to the construction of the Granite Chair, the Klister Klub cabin was only accessible by hiking or ski touring, yet it continued to be a popular place for members — especially on full moon nights. Klister Klub members continued to maintain and repair the main cabin through the 1970s and 80s, through to present day.
Come out to the Museum at 6 pm on Thursday, March 26th, to hear long-time Klister Klub member Terry LePage confirm some of the lore of this long-standing Rossland institution and the members who contributed so much to the Red Mountain ski area.
Entry by Donation. Treats/refreshments provided. More info/RSVP at rosslandmuseum.ca/news/2026/march-speaker
Spring Break Camps at the Museum
Travel back in time and activate your inner art historian with Spring Break Camps at the Rossland Museum! This year, campers have the opportunity to engage directly with some of our favourite art-related artefacts, most of which are not currently on display.
March 16th – 20th: Junior Time Travellers – Art through Artifacts
For an artist, inspiration can come from anywhere, anytime. For us, inspiration comes from our collection, every day. Whether you’re a mini Michaelangelo or more of a pint-sized Pollock, there’s always a new medium to master or technique to try. Each day, campers will learn about art history through a variety of art projects and activities inspired by the museum’s artsy-est artefacts.

March 23th – 27th: Junior Time Travellers – Artefacts through Art
Rossland has always been home to a vibrant and creative community, and we have the collection items to prove it. From early mining and ski races to homemade instruments and DIY woodstoves, our locals sure knew how to innovate. Each day, campers will learn the history behind some of the museum’s most unique artefacts through related crafts and activities.

Camps run 9 am-3 pm (drop-off begins at 8:45 am, pick-up between 3-4 pm). Camps appropriate for ages 6-10. Max 16 children per week.
