Trail man facing charges after parking metres damaged/robbed
A Trail man is facing charges in connection with damage to, and theft from, local parking metres, according to RCMP top cop Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
“On June 5, the Trail and Greater District Detachment RCMP received a report from the city bylaw officer of an unknown person stealing change from parking metres in downtown Trail. The parking metres were damaged in the process of the theft.
“The RCMP conducted an investigation and identified an alleged 47-year-old male suspect in the incident, thanks in part to surveillance video,” he said, adding the suspect was is known to police, and was thought to have committed the crimes in the wee hours of the morning (around 4 a.m.).
“On June 10, a constable, while out on patrol, noticed the suspect cycling on Rossland Avenue and arrested the man for allegedly committing Mischief to Property contrary to Section 430(4) of the Criminal Code, Attempted Theft under $5,000.00 contrary to Section 334(b) and 463(d) of the Criminal Code, and for Possession of Break-In Instruments contrary to Section 351(1) of the Criminal Code.”
