A need to revitalize the downtown core was identified in 2010, keeping it active, vibrant and sustainable.

City council struck a select committee — Downtown Opportunities and Action Committee — to find solutions to the problems in the downtown core. In August, the City chose MMM Group Limited to develop the renewal plan for downtown Trail.

Called the Downtown Plan, the committee will release its detailed report to the community Monday night at the Memorial Centre (7 p.m.).

A number of key issues are incorporated in the plan, such as parking and traffic flows, infrastructure assessment and recommended upgrades, streetscape improvements, and design guidelines.

As well, the plan identifies potential redevelopment areas, and will serve as a guiding document as part of the City’s efforts to rejuvenate the downtown.

Public feedback

Every business and organization in Downtown Trail contributes to the future of the area and their input is sought on the plan.

Input will be kept anonymous and aggregated – in other words, none of the information provided will be attributable. The committee is looking for frank and honest input based on experience.

The survey can be completed and submitted online at  ttps://www.research.net/Downtown_Trail until Oct. 10, 2011. If you would like to download a paper survey, click here.
