RCMP: Weekly beat - Cars get snowed under

Grand Forks RCMP had some silent and mostly peaceful nights this past week.
While holiday CounterAttack checks continue, RCMP Staff Sergeant Jim Harrison said he is pleased to report his officers have made no new impaired driving charges. “This means people are being careful out there and we really appreciate it,” said Harrison. At the beginning of the CounterAttack season in late November, Grand Forks RCMP issued two roadside prohibitions and a 24 hour suspension. This past week the only things police issued were some seat belt warnings. Stolen Battery A “most unusual” incident was reported on Dec. 14 at 8:53 a.m. by the owner of a 1982 Jeep Wagoneer. Someone had stolen the battery out of the vehicle sometime between 9 p.m. the previous evening and 5 a.m. that morning. The Jeep was parked on Riverside Drive. Police have no suspects at this time. On coming vehicles get snow balled On Dec. 17 at 6:18 p.m. there was a report of young people throwing snow balls at passing cars at the intersection of Granby Rd. and Hwy. 3 in Grand Forks. By the time RCMP arrived the kids had dispersed and all that was left was their footprints in the snow. “We are cautioning anyone involved that it is a very dangerous thing and could result in vehicle accidents, so don’t do it,” said Harrison.
