It appears icy roads is the main cause of a fatal car accident Thursday evening in the 3700 block of Pass Creek Road in Krestova.

At approximately 7 p.m. a crew cab pickup left the road and rolled over into the ditch, with the top of the vehicle colliding with a large tree before coming to rest.

The lone male occupant of the vehicle from Krestova died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

RCMP along with Crescent Valley and Beasley Fire Rescue units attended the scene of the accident.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist, Cpl. Dave Barnhart and the B.C. Coroners Office.

At this time RCMP believes ice roads and failing to wear a seatbelt may have played roles in the fatal crash.

The name of the deceased has not been released at the request of the family.

Any further inquires can be made to Nelson RCMP at 250-352-2156.
