The West Kootenay Wildcats tuned up for the upcoming provincial tournament by finishing second at the Minor Hockey Bantam House Championships Sunday at the NDCC Arena.

Despite hitting a few posts, the Cats lost 2-0 to Castlegar 1 in the final to grab the silver medal.

Castlegar 1 finished the tournament undefeated.

West Kootenay opened the tourney losing 1-0 to Nakusp.

Ironically, Cats affiliate player Kira Streliev scored only goal of the game, unfortunately, for Nakusp.

The Wildcats bounced back in game two, dumping Nelson 2 4-1.

Julie Sidoni, Paige Gattafoni, Stephanie McAuley and Merrisa Dawson, into an empty net, scored for the Cats.

Castlegar 1 then defeated West Kootenay 3-2 as Sydney Pollock and Jesse Cooper scored for the Cats.

West Kootenay managed to pull off the upset of the tournament during semi final play, edging Trail 2-1 in overtime.

Emma Hare scored the winner in extra time with two seconds remaining in the five-minute overtime period with assists to Gattafoni and Dawson.

Jenna Wheeldon scored the other goal for West Kootenay.

The Wildcats travel to Vancouver Island March 17-21 for the Female Provincial Tournament in Colwood.
