UPDATED: Nelson Police release age of Selkirk Paving employee pinned under truck during industrial accident Friday

Nelson Police Department have released the age of the Selkirk Paving worker pinned under a truck during an industrial accident Friday afternoon near the 900 block of Victoria Street on Gyro Park Road.
The injuried worker is a 53-year-old local man.
While unloading the paver from the trailer towed by the dump truck, the equipment began rolling. The local man attempted to jump back into the truck to stop it.
However, the truck quickly turned, throwing the driver to the side. The truck then slid over the legs of the man, pinning him before colliding with the detached garage in the 900 block of Silica Street,
Emergency crews removed the man before transportation to Kootenay Lake Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Nelson Police Department, CVSE (Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement) and WorkSafe BC are investigating the cause of the accident.
UPDATED: Selkirk Paving worker escapes serious injury after being pinned under truck
A Selkirk Paving worker escaped serious injury Friday afternoon after his dump truck rolled off a Nelson street, pinning him under his vehicle on Gyro Park Road near Park and Silica Streets.
At around noon Friday, a Selkirk Paving employee was parked towing a flatbed trailer and loaded with a paver.
The front of the trailer was loaded with supplies.
It’s believed when the supplies were off-loaded the truck started to roll.
The shifting weight of the paver on the trailer flipped the front into the air and jack-knifed the truck and trailer.
The Selkirk Paving employee attempted to stop the moving equipment by jumping back into the cab of the dump truck but was thrown underneath the vehicle and pinned.
B.C. Ambulance Paramedics arriving on the scene removed the man before transporting him a few blocks to Kootenay Lake General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The rolling dump truck came to rest into the side of a residential garage.
However, the extent of the crash punctured the side of the gas tank, sending diesel fueled down the Silica Street.
Emergency crews arriving on the seen laid down sand bags to stop the leaking fuel from spilling into City of Nelson storm drains.
Gyro Park road was closed for the better part of the afternoon as Nelson City Police and RCMP officers reconstructed the accident and crews cleaned up the scene.

Industrial accident shuts down street in Nelson Friday
There has been an industrial accident involving a Selkirk Paving dump truck and trailer Friday afternoon in Nelson near Gyro Park.
Nelson City Police has released few details but the street near the corner of Silica and Gyro Park Road was closed while emergency crews dealt with the accident and cleaned up leaking diesel from the dump truck.
Unconfirmed reports say the driver was out of the truck pulling a trailer loaded with a road paver when the equipment began moving.
The driver, in the area to begin paving for the City of Nelson, attempted to jump back into the truck when the vehicle crashed into the side of a third-party garage near the street on Gyro Road.
Fuel from the truck’s tank was punctured during the crash, which flowed down the side of Gyro Road and onto Silica Street.
The Selkirk Paving driver was taken to Kootenay Lake Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
