Residents being unsafe around downtown construction

The following is a press release issued by the City of Trail:

This is a follow-up notice to the original Aug. 1 notice distributed to local residents and media. The notice informed the public that the City of Trail has temporarily closed lower Glover Road from Green Avenue to Victoria Street. Entry and exit for all pedestrians and vehicles, with the exception of emergency vehicles, was blocked off (and will continue to be blocked off) due to construction. We ask for everyone to please to use extra caution and slow travelling speed, and to obey all posted information signage and traffic control personnel in the area of construction.

The city has been informed that several vehicles and pedestrians are taking routes that are not safe for the public. Therefore, we have included a map that clearly outlines the safe routes for all vehicles and pedestrians to take during this construction period. Public safety is paramount during this project, so we ask that you refer to the map to plan your driving or walking route and to continue to obey all signage and traffic personnel.

The City of Trail regrets the inconvenience and appreciates your patience and cooperation as we continue to rebuild our city infrastructure and will endeavor to complete the work as soon as possible.  The estimated completion date of this component, weather permitting, of the project requiring vehicle and pedestrian detours at Glover Road is approximately Aug. 15.

Please contact the City of Trail Engineering Department, 250-364-0822 if you require any information regarding the project.
